4. Kinnu — gamified pathways at near-zero cost

Knowledge pathways with reading bursts and quizzes, history included, on iOS 17+ and Android. Its US in-app purchase list contains only minor items (a $1.99 monthly item and paid certificates), which matches its substantially-free reputation; 4.8 stars on a small base of about 500 US ratings.
