About Histia — free to quote
One-line description
Histia is an iPhone and iPad education app for exploring world history through short stories, audio and cinematic playback, quizzes, and a map through time.
Boilerplate
Histia: World History Facts is an education app built by William Souef for people who want to learn history in short sessions. It presents world history through short stories with reading, audio, and cinematic playback, alongside themed series, a map through time, quizzes, saved favorites, and a History Passport progress area. Histia is free to download from the App Store for iPhone and iPad, with optional in-app purchases. The official Histia website publishes its research, sourcing, correction, and AI-use standards.
What the current product includes
Short stories and series
Stories give a historical subject a defined beginning and end. Themed series group related episodes into a guided sequence.
Reading and playback
Stories can be read as text. Published stories with bundled narration can also play with synchronized captions and changing visuals.
A map through time
The current map interface runs from 3000 BCE to 2025. Some markers open a published story; others are marked as coming soon.
Recall and progress
Quiz rounds are available where question sets have been published. Favorites, streaks, and the History Passport record progress inside the app.
Founder
Possible story angles
Building history learning independently
A founder interview about choosing the scope, formats, and editorial responsibilities of an independently built education app.
Source transparency in AI-assisted history
Histia publicly explains where AI assists production, where human responsibility remains, how historical claims are sourced, and how corrections are handled.
Finite learning instead of an endless feed
Why every story has a defined endpoint, and how that product choice differs from an endless content feed.
Editorial standards
Historical articles on this website end with links to the sources used. When evidence does not settle a question, Histia's published process is to name the disagreement rather than present certainty. The site also explains how AI assists drafting and structuring, while factual responsibility remains with the editor.
These are Histia's published standards, not an independent third-party audit. Read the complete About & Editorial Standards page, including the corrections process and public correction log.
Approved media assets
These files are supplied for editorial coverage of Histia. The screenshots are designed App Store promotional composites: they contain native app interface captures inside supporting atmospheric artwork, so they should not be described as unedited device captures.
