US App Store list prices, October 13, 2026
  • Histia · monthly$7.99
  • Nibble · monthly$19.99
  • Histia · lifetime, once$69.99
  • Nibble · yearly, highest listed$89.99

Nibble's listing shows several yearly prices, so the offer you see depends on your onboarding path. Its cheapest yearly offer, $12.99, would undercut everything here if it is the one you are shown. Compared on what you get per dollar for history alone, Histia gives you a full history catalog, while Nibble spreads the same subscription across nine-plus subjects.

Does Nibble have a free version?

Nibble's public materials conflict: some describe limited free access, but a July 2026 developer reply says there is no free plan, only a seven-day trial. Histia is free to download, and three of its stories play with no subscription.

In our August 2026 test, Nibble's public web onboarding ran about 30 personalization steps, then asked for an email before showing an offer or a lesson. The details are in our Nibble review.

Do Histia and Nibble work on iPad and Android?

Histia runs on iPhone and iPad. Nibble's App Store listing says it is only for iPhone, but Nibble is also on Google Play. Histia has no Android app.

Which one should you choose?

Choose Histia if you…

  • want history, not a sampler of subjects
  • learn on an iPad, or like to listen while doing something else
  • would rather pay once than keep a subscription

Choose Nibble if you…

  • are as curious about science, art and money as about history
  • use Android, or want the app in French, German or Spanish
  • are shown its cheapest yearly offer and want many subjects

Try a history story before you pay for anything

Histia is free to download, and its World War II, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Moon landing stories play with no subscription.

How we checked

Prices, ratings, devices and languages come from both US App Store listings, read signed out on October 13, 2026. On August 24, 2026 we went through Nibble's public web onboarding without entering an email, starting a trial or paying. We did not use the native Nibble app, so we make no claim about its lesson quality. Histia facts that are not on its listing, such as the 78 stories, the 27 written quizzes and the three free stories, come from the current app build.
