Histia for iPhone and iPad
Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 22, 2026. Parts of this policy that depend on app features describe version 1.3.10 and later.
Histia has no account and never asks for your name, email, contacts, photos or location. Your progress stays on your device. To sell subscriptions and to understand how the app is used, a few service providers receive limited, mostly anonymous data, listed below. You can switch off usage statistics in the app, and you decide whether advertisers may track you.
Who is responsible
Histia is published by William Souef. For any question about your data, write to prodwilliamsouef@gmail.com.
What happens to your data
Stored only on your device
Your reading progress, streaks, favorites, badges and preferences (the eras and goal you picked in the introduction, audio settings, reminders, language) are stored on your device. They are not sent to us. They are deleted when you delete the app or reset your progress.
Purchases and subscriptions (RevenueCat)
Histia uses RevenueCat to handle App Store purchases and to know whether Premium is active. RevenueCat receives a random app user ID created on your device (the “Support ID” in Settings), your App Store receipt and transaction data (product, price, dates, trial status) and technical details such as the app version and device model. Apple processes the payment itself: we never see your card, name or email address. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
Usage statistics (TelemetryDeck)
To learn where people stop during the introduction, how many open the subscription screen, start a trial or finish a story, the app sends short events to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. An event is a label such as “introduction step viewed”, “subscription screen opened” or “story completed”, with basic technical information (app version, iOS version, device type, language). Events carry no name, email address or advertising identifier; the service works from an anonymous, hashed identifier. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving the app. You can switch this off at any time in Settings › Privacy.
Advertising measurement
Apple Search Ads. After you install the app, it asks Apple for a one-time attribution token (Apple’s AdServices framework) and passes it to RevenueCat, which uses it to tell us whether an Apple Search Ads campaign led to the install. The token contains no personal information and no advertising identifier.
Meta (Facebook and Instagram). Outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app includes Meta’s SDK, which reports events such as an install, the start of a free trial and a purchase to Meta, so that we can see which Meta ads work. The app first shows Apple’s tracking prompt. If you tap Allow, Meta can match these events to your Meta account using your device’s advertising identifier, and the app also shares that identifier, your device’s vendor identifier, your IP address and Meta’s anonymous ID with RevenueCat so that purchases can be reported accurately. If you tap Ask App Not to Track, the app does not access your advertising identifier and does not share it. Meta may still receive the limited measurement data described in its own documentation. Where you use the App Store in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the Meta SDK is not started. Meta processes this data under its own privacy policy.
Reminders
Daily reminders, if you turn them on, are notifications scheduled on your device. Histia does not use remote push notifications and receives no notification token.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, camera or microphone input, location, health data or payment card details. We do not read your advertising identifier unless you allow tracking as described above. We do not sell your data.
Who receives data
- Apple — the App Store, billing and attribution tokens (privacy policy).
- RevenueCat, Inc. — purchases and subscription status.
- TelemetryDeck — anonymous usage statistics.
- Meta Platforms — advertising measurement, only as described above.
These providers act on our behalf or under their own terms, and may process data outside your country, including in the United States. They rely on the safeguards they publish, such as standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
Data on your device stays until you delete the app or reset your progress. Purchase records are kept by RevenueCat as long as needed to restore your subscription, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations. Usage statistics are kept for no more than 24 months.
Your choices and rights
- Usage statistics: switch them off in Settings › Privacy.
- Tracking: change your answer at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Reminders: turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings › Notifications.
- Your data: you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, object to its use, and withdraw consent at any time. Write to prodwilliamsouef@gmail.com and include the Support ID shown at the bottom of the app’s Settings, so that we can find your purchase record. Usage statistics are anonymous, so we usually cannot link them to you. We reply within one month.
- Complaints: you may complain to your national data protection authority (for example the CNIL in France).
Children
Histia is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
Histia has no account or password to protect. The app talks to its providers over encrypted connections.
This website
histiaapp.com has no accounts and no forms. It uses Vercel Web Analytics and DataFast to count visits and to see which pages lead to App Store downloads, and these tools may set or read identifiers in your browser as described in their policies (Vercel, DataFast). App Store links on this site carry Apple campaign tags so that Apple’s App Analytics can tell us which page a download came from.
The site also sends short anonymous events to TelemetryDeck: which page was opened, where the visitor came from (the referring site or the campaign tag in the link), how long they stayed, how far they scrolled, which download button or link they used, and, if they take the optional “history plan” quiz at histiaapp.com/start, their answers to its questions. A random identifier kept in your browser’s local storage, hashed before it is sent, links the events of one browser. It contains no name, email address or IP address. Clear your browser’s site data to reset it.
Changes to this policy
When what we collect changes in a way that matters, we update this page and its date, and we mention it in the notes of the app update.
